Infographic: The 10 Craziest Business Expenses of 2016

What do llamas, wax lips and bagpipe players have in common? No, this isn’t a trick question; they were all actual items expensed by business travelers in 2016. Every year, Certify asks business travelers to share their craziest stories of the most outrageous expenses they’ve seen or submitted over the year. For most business travelers, their expense reports consisted of the occasional Starbucks drink, airport lunch or Uber ride, but for others, their reports were a little less ordinary. Take a look: Whether these crazy expenses were justified or not, we saw over 430 outrageous responses from nearly every industry and job title. Additionally, nearly 1 in 10 respondents claimed that they knowingly purchased personal items and expensed them for business.
